TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Indiana State Sycamores return to action on Saturday, November 6 when they take on Wabash College at Noon (EDT) inside Hulman Center. The game against Wabash is the second and final exhibition contest of the season for the Sycamores.
The game against Wabash kicks off a busy day of Sycamore athletics as the game will be followed at Memorial Stadium by the football team hosting Northern Iowa at 3:05 p.m. and then a volleyball match versus Southern Illinois inside the ISU Arena at 7:00 p.m. A ticket to the men's basketball game will gain admission to both of the following events later in the day.
ISU is coming off an 83-44 exhibition victory over Rose-Hulman on Tuesday night. Dwayne Lathan led the charge with 14 points, hitting 4-of-8 field goals and 6-of-8 free throws. He also added five rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
The Sycamores got all 14 players on the roster into the game action, as no player saw more than 18 minutes on the court.
The Sycamores hit 26-of-61 shots from the field and were 25-of-30 from the charity stripe. ISU also connected on six 3-pointers in the game.
Junior college transfer Myles Walker made his Sycamore debut in the starting lineup as he posted five points and six rebounds in eight minutes of action. He paced the squad with a trio of blocked shots.
The Indiana State defense held RHIT to just 25.6 percent shooting, allowing them to connect on just 11-of-43 shots from the field.
The Sycamores won the rebounding battled with 45 caroms as opposed to Rose-Hulman's 33. It marked the second consecutive season in which ISU and Rose-Hulman locked horns in exhibition action.
ISU must now turn its attention to Wabash College. The Little Giants hold a 17-8 edge in regular season contests, with the two teams last competing in 1975. ISU and Wabash first met in 1902. Wabash is led by senior Wes Smith, who averaged 18.2 ppg last year. Also back is junior AJ Sutherlin who tallied 16.8 ppg one year ago.
Following the Wabash contest, ISU will open the regular season in Chicago against Texas-Pan American on Friday, November 12. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m. (ET).
