SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Indiana State Sycamores put four scorers in double figures but a pair of Notre Dame runs which wrapped around halftime proved to be too much as ISU fell at No. 25 Notre Dame by the score of 81-72 in front of 7,080 fans at the Purcell Pavllion.

ISU fell to 3-4 on the season while Notre Dame remained unbeaten and improved to 8-0.

ISU was paced by the play of Dwayne Lathan who scored 22 points. Lathan connected on 7-of-16 shots from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers and was 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Joining Lathan in double figures was Jake Kelly who had 17, Carl Richard with 14 and Myles Walker tallied 10.

Kelly led ISU with five rebounds while Notre Dame enjoyed a 36-27 advantage on the boards, but ISU had 10 offensive rebounds and converted them into 14 second chance points. The Sycamores had just seven turnovers in the game, and forced 12 Irish miscues and scoring 13 points off them.

Lathan got the offense rolling for ISU right off the bat as he put in the first bucket of the contest for the Trees - a 3-pointer just over a minute in to stake ISU to a 3-2 advantage. The Sycamore lead grew to four points on two separate occasions at 11-7 on bucket by Carl Richard and at 16-12 on trey by Jake Kelly. Notre Dame answered the Kelly basket with seven consecutive points to build a 19-16 cushion with 12:02 left in the first half.

ISU countered with five points in a row to take the lead back at 21-19 on a conventional 3-point play by Lathan with 10:41 on the clock. A free throw by Jake Odum at the 2:51 mark before the break tied the game at 31, but Notre Dame closed the half on a 7-2 spurt to take a 38-33 lead into the half.

Notre Dame's five point lead at the half swelled to 46-35 with 17:48 left in the game as the Irish score eight of the first 10 points following intermission. The Sycamores got the ND lead back down to seven on two occasions but then saw the Irish use a 6-0 run near the 12 minute mark to make it 59-45 with 11:27 to go.

ISU was able to trim the lead down to 81-72 in the game's final two minutes as they burned their fouls to give and forced the Irish to convert their bonus free throw opportunities down the stretch.

Indiana State hit 27-fo-61 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers for a 44.3 percent mark. Notre Dame was 28-of-52 from thefield, hit a total of nine 3-pointers to shoot 53.8 percent from the field. The Irish hit 16-of-22 free throws while ISU was 14-of-18 at the charity stripe.

Indiana State returns to action on Saturday, December 4 when they Sycamores travel to Wyoming for their contest as part of the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Conference Challenge. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. (ET) and the game can be heard live on ESPN Radio 92.7 FM and 1300 AM and can be watched on The Mountain Network.
