Head softball coach Brenda Coldren signed North Central High School's Megan Stone to a National Letter of Intent this past week to compete for the Sycamores for the Fall 2012 season. Last season the Sycamores finished 20-31 overall and held a 5-20 record in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Stone, a senior and three sport athlete at North Central, comes to ISU owning two softball records with her senior season still left to play. Stone currently holds the single season home run record with six and also holds the career home run record with 11.

"We are extremely excited to have Megan join the Sycamore family," Coldren said.  "She has a tremendous amount of untapped potential and I can't wait to see her realize that potential in a Sycamore uniform.  Megan is a left-handed hitter that can bunt, slap and hit for power.   Her natural athleticism, confidence and desire to improve help her adjust as quickly as any athlete I have seen.  She can play a variety of positions and will make an immediate impact."

Stone has also received multiple awards for her efforts. As a junior she was named All-Wabash Valley,  earned an Athletic Letter at North Central, was named TRC 1st Team, had the most RBI's on the team, and was named FS Magazine Athlete of the Month.
