ST. LOUIS, MO. ? Indiana State junior Erica Moore has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by the league's office. It is the third time this outdoor season that Moore has been selected, receiving the honor on April 7 and again on April 21.
Moore posted another victory in the 400 meter hurdles, cruising to a win at the Billy Hayes Invitational, hosted by Indiana University, last Friday with an NCAA qualifying time of 1:00.14. Moore won over a pair of Indiana Hoosiers as Kayla Smith was second (1:01.51) and Audrey Smoot finished third (1:01.75).
The Sycamore junior leads the Missouri Valley Conference in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.49, a time she posted in winning the event at the Indiana Invitational on April 18. She has also qualified in the heptathlon, scoring 5,302 points in the event at the Drake Relays.
Indiana State will be hosting the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at Marks Field. Action begins at noon on Friday with competition in the heptathlon and the men's decathlon.
