CHARLESTON, ILL. ? Indiana State's Dana Sander is in second place after the first four events of the Neil Moore Heptathlon at the EIU Big Blue Classic while teammate Rachel Posey is sitting in seventh place.
Sander finished third in the 100 meter hurdles (16.31), tied for fifth in the high jump (4-feet-11-inches), won the shot put with a heave of 34-feet-10.50-inches, and finished third in the 200 meters (27.47) to finish the first day with 2,542 points.
Morgan Stanley of Illinois State leads after the first day with 2,822 points. Posey is sitting in seventh after the first day with 2,101 points.
The heptathlon continues Friday morning with the final three events: the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
The rest of the Sycamore team will begin competition at 2 p.m. Friday with competition in the hammer, javelin and long jump. Track events begin with the 4x800 meter relay at 5 p.m. The EIU Big Blue Classic continues Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.
