NEW ORLEANS ? Indiana State University assistant track & field coach Jeff Martin has been named the Great Lakes Region women's assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), it was announced today.

Martin, the pole vault, long jump and triple jump coach for Indiana State, most recently coached Sycamore juniors Kylie Hutson and Lauren Martin to record setting victories at the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Hutson won her third straight women's pole vault title at the MVC Indoors while Martin won her second straight women's triple jump title. Both athletes will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at Texas A&M University in College Station, Tex.

Hutson set an Indiana State, all-time Missouri Valley and the MVC Indoor Championship record in winning the pole vault with a vault of 14-feet-0-inches. Martin established a new Indiana State and MVC Indoor Championship record of 43-feet-1 in winning the triple jump.
