LOUISVILLE, Ky. ?? Rashad Reed was Indiana State's leading scorer heading into Sunday's game against Lamar.? When the Sycamores (1-6) needed a go-ahead basket late in the game against the Cardinals (6-2), they went to Reed who connected on a floater in the lane with 0.2 seconds to propel ISU to its first win of the season in the fourth game of the Marques Maybin Classic at Freedom Hall.

The Sycamores jumped out to an early 9-2 lead after a thunderous dunk by Josh Crawford with 13:57 left on the clock in the first half.? The Cardinals came right back though on a 7-0 run, capped off by a jumper by Anthony Miles, to tie the game at 9-9 at the 12:29 mark.? ISU got the lead back on its next possession on a three pointer by Reed and later extended that lead to six points at 19-13 after two free throws from Jay Tunnell.

After Lamar fought back to bring the game within three points at 22-19, Jordan Printy nailed a three-pointer with 6:18 left on the clock to put the Sycamores back up by six points at 25-19.? However, Lamar went on a 9-2 run and took its second lead of the game at 28-27 after a jumper by Tristan Worrell.? The two teams then traded baskets before the Cardinals took a 38-34 advantage with 1:58 left in the half on a three-pointer by T.J. Riley.

Aaron Carter then hit two free throws for ISU to cut the lead to two, but a layup by Lamar's Jay Brown put the Cardinals back up by four points at 40-36 with 1:18 remaining.? Isiah Martin then took over for the Sycamores and converted on back-to-back buckets to tie the game at 40-40 with 40 seconds left in the half, which is where the score would stay as both teams headed into the locker room at halftime.

Lamar came out of the break on a 6-0 run to take a 46-40 lead at the 18:04 mark of the second half, but a layup from Tunnell stopped the run and brought the Sycamores back within four.? The Lamar lead would eventually grow to eight points at 5-42 after a jumper by Jay Brown with just under 16 minutes left in the game.? Lamar played consistently over the next nine minutes of action and led by eight points at 62-54 after a jumper by Ashton Hall with 7:10 left in the game.

The Sycamores then answered with a 7-0 run, capped off by a jumper by Aaron Carter, to cut the lead to one at 62-61 with just 3:33 left in the game.? Two free throws by Brown put Lamar back up by three points at 64-61 with 2:08 left on the clock, but a free throw from Carter and a three-pointer by Reed with 38 seconds remaining gave ISU its first lead since late in the first half.?

Lamar's Brandon McThay then missed a three-point attempt and Tunnell corralled the loose ball and was fouled with 16 seconds left.? Tunnell made his first free throw, but missed the second to give ISU just a two-point lead at 66-64.? Lamar's Kenny Dawkins then tied the game with two free throws with nine seconds left after being fouled by Tunnell, his fifth of the game.? With the score tied at 66-66, Reed then brought the ball down the court and hit the floater with just 0.2 remaining on the clock.? Lamar's last-ditch heave was knocked down by three ISU defenders and the Sycamores picked their first win of the season.

Reed's late baskets gave him 15 points in the game to go along with six rebounds and two assists to lead the way for ISU.? Carter chipped in 15 points, thanks to a 7-for-8 effort from the free throw line, and added four rebounds while Tunnell just missed out on a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds for the Sycamores.? Freshman Tyler Cutter also had a solid game, as he dished out a career-high eight assists in 32 minutes of action.

The Sycamores wrap up the Marques Maybin Classic on Monday, when they face off against the Ohio Bobcats (3-3) at 4:30 p.m.? The Bobcats have lost both of their games in the tournament, with a 76-67 loss to Lamar on Saturday and a 91-56 loss to No. 11 Louisville in the first game of the day on Sunday.
