KELSEY LUNA NAMED MISSOURI VALLEY FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR

DES MOINES, Iowa ? Indiana State guard Kelsey Luna was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year at the league's annual Rawling's Coach of the Year Banquet this afternoon.

Luna is the second Sycamore under head coach Jim Wiedie to be named the Missouri Valley's Freshman of the Year. Stephanie Lisch took the same honor in 2004.

She averages 11 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Luna leads the league in 3-pointers made per game (2.55) as well as 3-point field goal percentage (45.4%). Her 74 3-pointers this season are just eight shy of the Indiana State record of 82, currently held by Kourtney Mennen in 2002-03.

Nationally, Luna's 2.55 3-pointers per game are 18th best while her 45.4% 3-point field goal percentage is a sparkling third.

No. 3 Indiana State opens play at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Friday, March 9 against No. 6 Creighton. Tip-off at the Drake Knapp Center is 9:35 p.m. (ET).
