TERRE HAUTE, Ind. ? The Indiana State Sycamores dropped their regular season home finale against Youngstown State 40-7 at Memorial Stadium on a sun-drenched afternoon in front of 2,540 fans.
ISU falls to 0-10, 0-5 GFC while the Penguins improved to 6-4, 2-3 GFC.
Youngstown State used a pair of Brian Palmer field goals as well as a 1-yard touchdown run by the Penguins' Jabairi Scott for a 13-0 halftime advantage.
Indiana State scored its lone touchdown on the day on a 0-yard fumble recovery by sophomore center Jack Byrne in the third quarter to cut the YSU advantage down to 26-7 .
Quarterback Charles Dowdell completed 11-of-24 passes for 122 yards, including a 33-yard strike to Jerimy Robinson. Robinson paced the Sycamores with four catches for 53 yards on the day.
Senior Brandon Logan recorded a team-best 15 tackles on the day. Sophomore Quinton Scott forced a YSU fumble late in the game to stop the Penguin's final drive while senior Prenny Stokes recovered it. Russell Dedeaux added another fumble recovery on a muffed punt return attempt by Youngstown.
The Indiana State Sycamores close the season next week at No. 1 nationally-ranked Northern Iowa next Saturday, November 10 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Kick-off is set for 5:05 p.m. (EST).
