LUBBOCK, Texas
Indiana State hung tough with I-A Big 12 Conference opponent Texas Tech on their home field in the early going, but the Red Raiders proved worthy of their No. 16 national ranking as they rolled to a 63-7 victory over Indiana State at Jones SBC Stadium. With ISU trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, senior Rocky Alo intercepted a pass by Cody Hodges, but fumbled on the return. After that possession, Texas Tech rattled off 42 consecutive points in the first half en route to the victory.
   Indiana State scored its lone touchdown of the contest at the 4:12 mark of the fourth quarter when Blayne Baggett found Jamie Petrowski for a five-yard touchdown pass.
   Texas Tech opened the scoring with an 11-play, 89-yard yard drive on their second possession of the contest which ended with a Taurean Henderson three-yard run for a touchdown with 7:32 remaining in the first quarter. Following the second Sycamore punt of the contest, TTU quarterback Cody Hodges was intercepted by senior Rocky Alo at the Raider 39-yard line, but he fumbled when tackled by Hodges on the 29.
   The Raiders were able to capitalize on the ISU mistake with a five-yard drive that ended with Henderson reaching the end zone for the second time in the contest. Henderson broke several Sycamore tackles and squirted through the line of scrimmage for a 44-yard rush that gave TTU a 14-0 advantage with 7:32 remaining in the first quarter.
   Henderson continued his stellar outing on the ensuing drive as he capped a nine-play, 82-yard scoring march with a six-yard run at the 12:46 mark in the second quarter. The touchdown gave TTU a 21-0 lead, with the Raiders reaching the end zone on three of its four possessions.
   The Red Raiders would go on to score 28 points in the final 12 minutes of the second quarter. Hodges tossed touchdown passes to Jarrett Hicks and two to Joel Filani for a 42-0 lead. The first half scoring ended when Phillip Johnson’s punt was blocked by Brandon Douglas and returned two yards for the TD and a 49-0 advantage at the half.
Texas Tech would add just two more scores in the second half, to produce the final tally, 63-7.
   Blayne Baggett led ISU in passing, as he completed 16-of-32 passes for 120 yards in the contest. The Sycamores’ leading rusher was Andre Forte, who finished with 17 attempts for 65 yards.Petrowski recorded a team-high five receptions for 44 yards and the Sycamores' lone score. Junior Sam Logan, who caught a league and school-record 17 passes one week ago at Murray State, was held without a catch for the first time this season. It broke a string of 14 consecutive games with a pass reception for Logan.
   Indiana State drops to 0-10 all-time against members of the Big 12 Conference. ISU will open Gateway Football Conference play on Sat., October 1, when the Sycamores host Western Kentucky at 1 p.m.
