Price Field
Price Field at The Eleanor Forsythe St. John Softball Complex is the home of the Indiana State Softball Team and opened in the spring of 1989. Located across the street from the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building on the corner of Fourth and Tippacanoe Streets, the softball facility features two playing fields (one used primarily as a game field, the other as a practice field.
The facility features a state-of-the-art electronic scoreboard by industry leader Daktronics that was installed in Spring 2019Â and a storage building as well as two bullpens, expanded dugouts, a drainage system and batting cage. Renovations of the infield and the outfield were completed prior to the 2012 season and a press box upgrade was completed during summer 2013.
The new pressbox features a dedicated wireless internet network, two rows of seating as well as heating and air conditioning. The north field on the complex is Price Field, site of ISU's home games. Indiana State hosted the MVC Softball Tournament at the complex in 1995.
The facility received a facelift prior to the 2011 season when all new state-of-the-art seating was put in to accommodate a capacity crowd of 700 patrons. Prior to the 2015 season, a new padded wall was installed in the outfield.
Price Field was named after Dr. Ferne E. Price who was the first coach in ISU history (1971 to 1977)Â and taught for 23 years at Indiana State before retiring. Dr. Price was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York in 1988 as a member of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
