Indiana State University Athletics

Indoor Track & Field Facility

Opened in 2018, the state of the art Indoor Track & Field Facility features a 200-meter flat track with six lanes on the oval and eight sprint/hurdle lanes. The facility also boasts two pole vault runways and one long/triple jump runway.

The addition of the Indoor Track & Field Facility not only allows for the Sycamores to have their own practice area during cold and wet weather seasons, it also gives Indiana State the opportunity to have home meets during the indoor season. Indiana State regularly hosts the John Gartland Invitational and ISU Open, while also rotating hosting rights of the annual Coughlan-Malloy Cup with Illinois State.

The track surface features Mondo Sportflex Super X 720, which is comprised of Mondotrack’s bottom layer and the traditional Sportflex surface to create Sportflex Super X 720: the perfect combination of comfort and performance.  Sportflex Super X 720 provides uniform dynamic response across the entire track, to guarantee optimal pacing.  For everything from daily training to the toughest competitions, Sportflex Super X 720 is the perfect combination of energy return, comfort and safety.  The top layer is composed of MONDO’s classic directional texture in rubber. Not only does this technology provide excellent grip, but it stands out for its durability and exceptional drainage in wet conditions.  The backing features Elongated Honeycomb technology to facilitate the foot's roll. Hexagonal air cells deliver exceptional shock absorption with energy storage and return in the form of a kinetic thrust.  Sportflex Super X 720 is one of the finest examples of MONDO’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The track contains up to 42% recycled post-consumer and post-industrial material and 6% rapidly renewable materials.

Mondo Sportflex Super X 720 was used for the IAAF 2018 World Indoor Championships, IAAF World Relay Championships, as well as many of the top track & field facilities in the United States and the World.
