Nikki Finnesand

Nikki Finnesand is entering her second season as an Assistant Coach after an incredibly successful debut. In her first season as an Assistant Coach with Indiana State’s Swimming and Diving Program, Finnesand coached 3 record breaking athletes and 2 record breaking relays.

Finnesand is no stranger to coaching record breakers. Coach Finnesand came to Indiana State after spending a season as the Assistant Coach at Truman State University. While at Truman State, Finnesand helped organize and conduct team practices, assisted with workout design and dryland training programs, planned a successful training trip, and coached her swimmers to 5 record breaking performances.

Prior to her time at Truman State, Finnesand served as the Head Coach for the Webster Swim Team for several summer seasons. In 2010, Finnesand earned the South Dakota Head Coach of the Year award for her efforts during her very first year as a Head Coach. In 2018, Finnesand led the Webster Swim Team to their third consecutive league win.

Finnesand competed for the Division I Swimming and Diving team at the University of Wyoming where she earned an NCAA B cut in the 200 backstroke. During her time as a student-athlete, Finnesand coached summer camps at the University of Wyoming while pursuing her degree in Communications and her minor in Disability Studies. In addition to her experience helping run swim camps at Wyoming, Finnesand has also helped coach the Air Force Academy summer camp for three years.

After graduating from the University of Wyoming, Finnesand served as the Assistant Coach for Golden West Swim Club for 2 years. During her time at Golden West, Finnesand successfully helped create a Junior Guards program and ran the Masters program. During her final year, Finnesand was also the Assistant Coach for Golden West College while helping with the club’s senior group swimmers who were preparing for Olympic Trials.

Finnesand also has further experience on the leadership and managerial side of coaching, having served as a Head Coach for the Southern California All-Stars Festival Team in 2017 and the NACC team manager for Southern California Swimming in 2016. Finnesand is active in the greater coaching community and is part of several mentorship programs for young coaches and athletes.
