TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State head basketball coach
Greg Lansing announced today (April 24) that sophomore guard
Trey Knight III has elected to transfer out the Sycamore Basketball program.

"As a coach, these guys are my kids and it hurts to have one of your family members go away," coach Lansing commented. "Trey will always be family. I totally understand and support him in his decision. He has gone through some tough luck with injuries and so for him to get back close to his mother, father and sister will be great for Trey. He has always been a great teammate and wonderful student. We thank Trey for everything he has done for this program and wish him the very best."

The Cedar Park, Texas native saw action in nine games last season before an injury cut his campaign short. He scored a season-best four points in 12 minutes of action at home against Missouri St. Louis.

"I just want to thank everyone in Terre Haute including the fans, my friends and coaches for being so supportive during my time at Indiana State," Knight said. "I have had a great experience, but it is the right time for me to make this decision to leave Indiana State in order to be closer to my family."

He sat out the 2015-16 season as a redshirt but played in 18 games during the 2016-17 campaign. He scored a total of 14 points, including a career-best six against Missouri-St. Louis on November 19. 2016. He added three assists in a home win over Drake on February 11, 2017.
