TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State baseball will take on Purdue in a pair of midweek games this week, first Tuesday at Bob Warn Field at 6 p.m. before making the trek to West Lafayette Wednesday evening for a 6 p.m. first pitch. LOOKING AT THE BOILERMAKERS
Purdue enters the week 15-15 overall and losers of their last five games. The Boilermakers are hitting .267 on the season led by Skyler Hunter at .336 in 30 starts. The Purdue pitching staff holds a 4.73 combined ERA.
ALL-TIME VS PURDUE
The Sycamores lead the all-time series with Purdue 39-30-2. Indiana State has won seven of the last 10 meetings. The two squads split midweek matchups a year ago with each team winning on the road.
MISSOURI VALLEY PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Triston Polley earned his first MVC Pitcher of the Week honor after a dominant start against Illinois State, going seven and a third innings, allowing just one run on three hits. The Avon, Indiana product struck out five and walked just one in the outing. The southpaw retired 13-straight batter before a walk in the seventh inning. Illinois State got the offense going late though, scoring eight runs in the final two innings of play.
LOOKING FORWARD
Indiana State will play four of its next five games at home, including a weekend series with league-leading Dallas Baptist. The Trees will have back-to-back midweek games with Purdue with the first coming at home on Tuesday before heading to Purdue Wednesday. Following this weekend's homestand with DBU, the Sycamores will play nine-straight contests on the road, including a weekend series at Louisville before wrapping up with Southern Illinois.

HE CAN DEAL
Triston Polley has been the most dominant arm in the Sycamore rotation so far this year. In nine starts, the Avon, Indiana product holds a 5-1 record to go along with a 2.44 ERA -- the second-best ERA in the MVC. Polley has pitched 59 innings and struck out 39 batters while holding opponents to a .201 average against. On the year, the southpaw has allowed only 16 earned runs and one or fewer earned runs in five starts.
