ST. LOUIS -- Heading into the 2018 edition of Arch Madness later this week at the Scottrade Center, the Missouri Valley Conference today announced its postseason awards for the 2017-18 campaign. Three different Sycamores have been honored by the voting panel comprised of conference head coaches, sports information directors and a media panel.
Jordan Barnes (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers) was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team while
Brenton Scott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) picked up a spot on the All-Missouri Valley Conference Third Team.
Tyreke Key (Celina, Tenn./Clay County) was named to the MVC All-Freshman Team.
The Sycamores used a thrilling 66-64 victory at Bradley last Saturday to secure the league's No. 6 seed at the upcoming State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. ISU will take on No. 3 Illinois State this Friday, March 2 at 9:30 p.m. (ET) in a game that will be televised on the Missouri Valley Conference TV Network.
Jordan Barnes picks up his first All-Missouri Conference honor one season after being named to the MVC All-Freshman Team. He has hit 112 3-pointers this season which is a new single-season school record and is the fourth-most ever in the history of the MVC. That total ranks third-best in the nation. From January 17 through February 17, Barnes connected on 29 free throws in a row – the most by a Sycamore in over three seasons. He ranks third in the MVC with a 17.2 ppg average while his 3.6 assists per game is sixth in the league.  He hits 85.6 percent of his free throws to rank third while he is connecting on 41.8 percent of his 3-point attempts which is ninth-best in the conference.

Barnes leads the Missouri Valley Conference with 3.7 made 3-pointers per game which ranks fourth-best nationally. He owns a 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio which ranks eighth in the MVC and his 33.5 minutes per game which is fourth-best in the league. Barnes was third in the conference only scoring rankings as he also averaged 17.2 ppg in league games. His 86.4 free throw percentage in league games was third-best in the MVC. He averaged 3.5 trifectas per game to lead the league.

He enjoyed a four-game stretch of scoring over 20 points in a game which was the longest such streak by a Sycamore since Greg Thomas did it during the 1992-93 campaign. He scored 25 points and hit six 3-pointers against Air Force and then posted 25 in the next game at North Texas on the strength of five 3-pointers and an 8-of-9 showing at the free throw line. Barnes hit a career-high seven 3-pointers -- the most by a Sycamore in five seasons -- en route to scoring 23 points against Indianapolis and finished the string with 22 points to lead ISU to a victory over Green Bay.

Barnes connected on five 3-pointers to post a career-high 27 points while pulling down a career-best nine rebounds in the home victory over Northern Iowa. He led the Sycamores with 19 points, hitting five 3-pointers and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the home win over Evansville. He finished the regular season with a team-leading 13 points in the road victory over Bradley.
Joining Barnes on the All-MVC Second Team are Phil Fayne (Illinois State), Armon Fletcher (Southern Illinois), Donte Ingram (Loyola) and Donte Thomas (Bradley). On the first team are: Clayton Custer (Loyola), Alize Johnson (Missouri State), Ryan Taylor (Evansville), Reed Timmer (Drake) and Milik Yarbrough (Illinois State).Â

Brenton Scott was tabbed an All-Missouri Valley Conference member for the third time in his career by being named to the All-MVC Third Team. He was also named the MVC Freshman of the Year during his initial campaign in 2014-15. Scott is currently second in ISU history with 270 career 3-pointers made and also second with 708 3-pointers attempted ... His 1,757 career points scored ranks fourth-best at ISU.

Scott finished the season with a 14.9 ppg average which ranked eighth in the league while his 15.6 ppg average in conference games ranked sixth. He leads the team in rebounding with a 5.7 average to rank 13
th. He ranks third in the Missouri Valley Conference with 1.7 steals per game while his 1.8 steals per league games ranks fourth. He averages 2.1 3-pointers per game to rank sixth while his 5.2 defensive rebounds per game is fourth in the league. Scott plays 32.9 minutes per game which is sixth. He began the season by being named to the Missouri Valley Conference Preseason First Team.

He opened the season with 24 points as he hit 6-of-9 attempts from 3-point range to go with three rebounds, two assists and one steal and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week following the season opening win at Indiana. Scott recorded his first career double-double with 25 points and a career-high 11 rebounds as part of the 74-64 victory over Air Force. He led the way with 23 points, hitting five 3-pointers and pulled down four rebounds in the 84-54 home victory over Illinois State.
Joining Scott on the All-MVCÂ Third Team were: Darrell Brown (Bradley), Bennett Koch (Northern Iowa), Cameron Krutwig (Loyola) and Kavion Pippen (Southern Illinois).

Tyreke Key rounds out the Sycamore honorees as he was named to the MVC All-Freshman Team. Key scored 14 points as he hit a trio of 3-pointers to go with seven rebounds and a pair of steals in 39 minutes of action as part of the four overtime game against Ohio. He scored 11 points off the bench and sparked a key 10-0 run in the second half which led the Sycamores to a 74-64 victory over Air Force. Key tied a career-high with 16 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers with six rebounds at Missouri State and then posted 10 points, including a pair of free throws to seal the win and pulled down a career-best nine rebounds in the road win over Evansville. He poured in 13 points and had a personal 7-0 run as the Sycamores took down Illinois State 84-54 inside Hulman Center. Key led the team with eight rebounds against the Redbirds. He finished the regular season with 11 points and three rebounds in the road victory over Bradley.
Joining Key on the MVC All-Freshman Team are: Elijah Childs (Bradley), Cameron Krutwig (Loyola), Tywhon Pickford (Northern Iowa) and Lucas Williamson (Loyola).
