ST. LOUIS – Juniors Akis Medrano and Ayanna Morgan have been named the MVC Male and Female Track Athletes of the week, the Valley announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Akis Medrano // Jr. // Distance // Boswell, Ind. (Benton Central HS)
Akis Medrano put on an impressive performance in the mile run at the EIU Friday Night Special, earning another top-10 performance for the year. Medrano now owns the eighth-best time in school history after crossing the finish line at 4:07.67, good enough fifth-place among some of the nation's best. He now has the fourth overall time in the MVC.
 
Ayanna Morgan // Jr. // Multi // St. Thomas (St. Thomas School)
Ayanna Morgan claimed victory in the 60-meter hurdles in the most impressive performance of the night at the EIU Friday Night Special, crossing the line at 8.39 for the school record which overtakes Carmelia Stewart's time of 8.42 from 2014. Morgan once again sits alone at the top of the Missouri Valley.
