CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Sycamore track and field teams will split squad again this weekend for the EIU Friday Night Special and the Alex Wilson Invite at Notre Dame in their last meets before the MVC Championships.

Both Indiana State teams enter the weekend still ranked in the Great Lakes Regional polls, with the men staying No. 12 and the women moving up three spots to No. 10.

A delegation of 16 Sycamores, comprised mostly of jumpers and distance runners, will make their way up to Notre Dame on Saturday for a chance to compete against some of the nation's best athletes. In the distance realm, Taylor Austin will compete in the mile one more time to try to improve her already Valley-leading time of 4:48.23 before the conference championships. Scott Schreiber will also be making the trek up to South Bend with his MVC-leading mark in the long jump of 7.38m (24-02.50).

While several athletes will be sitting out the EIU Friday Night Special in preparation for the MVC Indoor Championships, ISU will still be sending a sizable squad for a final tune-up in Charleston tomorrow.

Leading the way for Indiana State on the track will be hurdlers Daley Carter and Ayanna Morgan. Carter still sits in the top-50 nationally at 30th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.87, which is also third in the MVC. Morgan owns a time of 8.43 in the women's 60-meter hurdles, just .01 away from the school record and she is tied for first in the Valley.

Erin Reese will be looking to narrow the gap between first and second in the conference in the weight throw at EIU. Her current MVC mark of 19.45m (63-09.75) trails the current leader by three feet. She is also in the top-50 nationally in the weight throw at 43rd.

Competition at the EIU Friday Night Special is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. ET with the women's weight throw. Events on the track will get underway at 4:00 p.m. ET with the men's and women's 4X800-meter relay.
