TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State swimming and diving will travel to face off with the Ball State Cardinals on Jan. 20 at 1 p.m.

The Sycamores enter this meet coming off large margin wins over Wittenberg and DePauw. ISU defeated Wittenberg 238.5 to 49.5 while downing the Tigers 222.5 to 72.5.

Indiana State posted numerous first place finishes while also adding a couple new school records into the mix.

Blanca Saez-Illobre kicked off the hot streak for the Sycamores as she set a new school record in the 1000 freestyle early in the meet. Saez-Illobre finished with a time of 10:28.37 while also placing first.

Later in the evening the 800 freestyle relay team finished with a time of 7:49.96 which was a new pool record for Indiana State inside the Vigo County Aquatic Center.

The Sycamores edged their opponents in nearly every event of the night, including multiple events with first, second and third place finishes.

Indiana State finished in first, second and third place in 100 backstroke, 500 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 backstroke.

Other notable performances came from freshman Megan Schade who posted a first place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.62.

Martina Marks and Jacquie Price came up strong for the Sycamores in the 200 butterfly as Marks placed first with a 2:10.19 and Price followed close behind with a 2:11.34.
The Sycamores will now travel to Muncie, Ind. to face off with Ball State at 1 p.m.

Ball State enters the meet with a 4-3 record coming off a sixth place finish at the Miami Invitational. Prior to this the Cardinals defeated Grand Valley State by a score of 164-136.

Following this meet the Sycamores will be back in action for their final regular season matchup as they travel to face off with conference rival, Southern Illinois.
