TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Missouri Valley Conference named sophomore Katie Sidloski Newcomer of the Week for the week of Sept. 5.

Despite the fact that Sidloski is a sophomore on the roster, the product from Strongsville, Ohio is competing for the first time in her college career this season.

During her freshman campaign Sidloski spent the year rehabilitating from injury and making sure she was strong and ready to go for the following season.

This hard work showed through in the Sycamores match vs. Green Bay on Sept. 1. Indiana State defeated the Phoenix by a score of 2-0.

Sidloski came away with a total of three points in the match resulting from one goal and one assist.

First in the 68^th minute Sidloski combined a string of passes together with Jazlyn Rowan before slotting a ball into the box for freshman, Jensen Margheim to finish off.

Soon after this goal Sidloski put one of her own on the board for the Sycamores when she scored a header off a Caitlyn Eddy corner kick that had been sent to the back post.

Sidloski is now second in the assists category for the Sycamores.

"Katie had a great week of training and it continued into the weekend of games. Each week she has gained more confidence and her game is continuing to grow and improve each day, which is exciting to see," said head coach Julie Hanley.

The Sycamores continue their season on Sept. 8 traveling to face off with MVC opponent Loyola-Chicago at 8 p.m. in their 2017 conference opener.
