BOARDMAN, Ohio -- The Indiana State women's golf team posted rounds of 317 and 308 to finish fourth at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State. The event was held at the Mill Creek Golf Course (North Course) which is a par-72, 6,089-yard layout. The Sycamores were the defending champion of the event.
The Sycamores improved nine strokes on their team score from Monday's opener to recorded a 308 which was the third best score of the day among the 10-team field. Marshall followed up its 310 on Monday with a 298 to finish with a score of 608 which won the event by 12 shots over Akron. Akron tallied rounds of 315 and 305 to finish second while Cleveland State used rounds of 313 and 309 for a score of 622 which edged Indiana State's scores of 317 and 308 by just three shots. The Sycamores finished fourth with a two-day tally of 325.
Indiana State topped Dayton (324-311=635), Niagara (332-314=646), host Youngstown State (328-321=649), MVC rival Evansville (336-319=655), St. Francis (Pa.) (343-322=665) and Wheeling Jesuit (351-338=689) to finish fourth in the team standings.
Junior
Thilda Staubo fired a 76 on the opening day and then came back with a round of 75 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 151 and a tie for 2nd place. The 2nd place finish for Staubo is the best of career topping a pair of third place finishes she has amassed over her previous two seasons of competition.Â
Sophomore
Sierra Hargens, who was second overall in this event one year ago, tallied a pair of 78's this year to finish with a score of 156 and a tie for 14th place.
Junior Sophie Benneti made a marked improvement, trimming 12 shots off her score during the Tuesday round as she followed her 86 on Monday with a impressive 74 in the second round. her total of 160 jumped her 23 places on the leaderboard up to a tie for 20th place.Â

Robyn Blanchard posted a round of 85 (following a 78 on Monday) on the second day and fell into a tie for 29th place while
Alex Jennings carded a round of 81 and her two-day score of 166 was tied for 41st. Playing as an individual, sophomore
Kayla Ryan fired an 80 on Tuesday and her two-round score of 163 also tied for 29th place.
Indiana State returns to action on September 18-19 when they travel to the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
