YORKTOWN, Ind. -- The Indiana State women's golf team is in 12th place among the 19-team field after the first two rounds of the Ball State Cardinal Classic played on Monday at The Player's Club and hosted by Ball State. The Player's Club is a par-72, 6,204 yard layout in the first 54-hole event of the season. The final round will be played Tuesday morning.
The Sycamores fired rounds of 302 and 306 and their two-round total of 608 is in 12th place. Indiana State is five shots ahead of Central Michigan who posted a two-round score of 613 and eight in front of Bowling Green (617). Drake's rounds of 303 and 315 give them a tournament tally of 618 as they stand in 15th place while Northern Kentucky is No. 16 with a score of 622. Dayton posted a total of 629 in 17th while Fort Wayne's 633 is 18th and MVC rival Evansville's tally of 647 rounds out the field.
Indiana State is five shots behind the host Cardinals and Austin Peay who are tied for 10th place with a score of 603. The University of Indianapolis leads the event with rounds of 283 and 286 which gives them a total of 569.
Sophomore
Sierra Hargens leads the way for the Sycamores with rounds of 73 and 77 for a total of 150 and a tie for 32nd place. Just one shot back is junior
Alex Jennings who fired rounds of 75 and 76 for a total of 151 and a tie for 38th place.
Robyn Blanchard fired rounds of 76 and 77 for a total of 153 and a tie for 50th place.
Thilda Staubo, who picked up a second place finish in the season opener at Youngstown State and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golfer of the Week. fired rounds of 78 and 76 for a tally of 154 and is tied for 50th place. Rounding out the lineup for the Sycamores is
Sophie Benetti who posted rounds of 78 and 77 for a total of 157 and a tie for 70th place.
