TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State head swimming and diving coach
Matt Leach is proud to announce the addition of diving for the second-year program in 2017-18. In their first season of competition, the Sycamores fielded a squad that competed in all of the swimming events but were not able to accumulate points off the diving board.
"To be coming off of our first year as a program and now to add diving makes this an exciting time at Indiana State," swimming and diving head coach
Matt Leach said. "We are really excited to get into year two with diving being a part of our program."
That all changes this season as the Sycamores are now looking for a diving coach to fill out the coaching staff. The position is now listed on the NCAA Job Market
here and applications are currently being accepted. This position will recruit and coach the diver on the team as well as provide leadership in the areas of academics and discipline.Â
"This not only helps from a program growth standpoint, but there are several diving events which will help in the scoring aspect of dual meets and most importantly -- the Missouri Valley Conference championships," Leach continued. "The biggest thing is having those student-athletes come on board right away and putting more points on the board for the Sycamores."
Indiana State's first season in the pool was a success despite the lack of a diving program. The Sycamores saw
Jacquie Price and
Blanca Saez-Illobre earn All-Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention honors while the team earned dual meet victories over Rose-Hulman, Eastern Illinois and Butler. The team hosts their home meets inside the Vigo County Aquatic Center.
