TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State cross country has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2017 season, ISU track & cross country program director Angela Martin announced Monday.
 
The Sycamores will host two home meets this season at famous LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, including a season-opening meet named in honor of late head coach John McNichols on Sat., Sept. 9. The John McNichols Invitational will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 5K race, followed by the men's 8K at 10 a.m. A golf outing will immediately follow the races on Sept. 9 at Hulman Links Golf Course (see below for more info).
 
Indiana State will then travel up north to Purdue for the annual Indiana Intercollegiates in West Lafayette, Ind., on Sept. 15. Following an off week, the Sycamores will return to the road for the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Sept. 29.
 
Two weeks later, ISU will head south to Louisville for the Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 14 – the last tune-up before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Springfield, Mo., on Oct. 28.
 
ISU will then host the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at LaVern Gibson on Fri., Nov. 10 – the fifth-such time the regional meet has come to Terre Haute after hosting in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2003. LaVern Gibson will also host the Great Lakes Regional meet in 2018 and 2020, with a stint hosting the NCAA Championships in between in 2019. The 2019 season will mark the 13th time the national meet has come to LaVern Gibson since 2002.
