ST. LOUIS – A pair of Sycamore Football student-athletes highlight the 2016-17 Missouri Valley Football Academic Awards as Issac Harker and Jameer Thurman were two of 36 student-athletes conference-wide who earned the league's highest academic achievement by capturing the Missouri Valley Football Conference President's Council Academic Excellence Award as announced by the league office today.
Recent graduate and current Calgary Stampeder Jameer Thurman was honored with the President's Council Academic Award as was junior quarterback Issac Harker. The President's Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (through Fall 2016 semester) and participation in athletics a minimum of two years. The student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation.
Also, 149 student-athletes received the league's Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum GPA of 3.2 for the previous two semesters (freshmen are not eligible.) At Indiana State, 12 captured this honor including:

In addition, the Missouri Valley Football Conference has announced its 2016-17 Honor Roll, which recognizes academic achievement of student-athletes. To qualify for the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.0 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2016), must have been a member of the football team, and must have a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment during the fall. Nearly 500 student-athletes earned Honor Roll recognition, including 21 from Sycamore Football. Those honored are:

Indiana State opens preseason camp on July 31 in preparation for the opener of the
Curt Mallory era on Thursday, August 31 against Eastern Illinois underneath the brand new lights at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 pm (ET).
