ST. LOUIS – Indiana State baseball had four players earn All-Missouri Valley Conference honors, the Valley announced on Tuesday. Senior
Tony Rosselli (OF) earned First Team All-MVC while
Austin Conway (RP)
Dane Giesler (DH) and
Will Kincanon (RHP) were named to the Second Team. The selections were the first of their kind for each of the Sycamores.
All-conference honors are voted on by the league's eight head coaches.
Rosselli has been the offensive leader for the Sycamores all season long with a team-best .331 batting average in 46 starts. One of only two players on the squad with 40 or more RBIs, he has 10 home runs, eight doubles and five triples for a .610 slugging percentage. He has collected eight stolen bases and has not committed an error in 91 chances in center field.
Senior closer
Austin Conway sits in second-place on the Indiana State career save list after earning his 12th save of the season over the weekend against Wichita State. He now has 19 for his career; seven behind Sycamore all-time saves leader Craig Kozlowski (1982-86). With his 12 saves, he sits at 17th nationally for saves this season. The right-hander has a 2.73 ERA in 29.2 innings to go along with 31 strikeouts.
Designated hitter
Dane Giesler has shown his power at the plate all season, leading the team with 15 home runs and 44 RBIs. Giesler is third on the squad with a .593 slugging percentage with seven doubles and a triple. In total, the redshirt junior has 12 multi-hit and nine multi-RBI games. The Jasper, Indiana native also put together a pair of multi-home run games first against Southern Illinois (Apr. 15) and again versus Illinois State (May 6).
Right-hander
Will Kincanon picked up Second Team accolades after finishing the regular season 5-5 in 13 starts. He recorded a 5.23 ERA in 72.1 innings while striking out 83 batters and holding opponents to a .262 average. The junior recorded three 10+ strikeouts games on the year including a 5-3 win at No. 12 Washington March 11.
The Sycamores return to action this Wednesday in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament when they take on No. 6 seeded Evansville at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT from Hammons Field in Springfield Missouri. The game will air live on The Valley On ESPN3.
