OUT OF THE BOX

LOOKING AT THE SYCAMORES
Tyler Friis (.333, 10 2B, 26 R, 21 BB, 13 SB) and Tony Rosselli (.327, 8 2B, 8 HR, 38 RBI) lead the Sycamores at the plate while Dane Tofteland and Brandt Nowaskie are hitting .329 and .310 in limited action, respectively. Dane Giesler (.293) is tops on the squad with 15 home runs and 43 RBIs. As a team, the Sycamores are hitting .269 while ISU pitching has struck out 412 batters and hold a combined 4.80 ERA.

SEEDING OUTLOOK
Indiana State can finish as high as the No. 3 seed and as low as the No. 6 seed, depending on the outcome of its games this weekend versus Wichita State. The Sycamores can lock up the No. 3 spot with two wins over the Shockers this weekend. Indiana State holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Southern Illinois and Evansville.

LOOKING AT THE SHOCKERS
Wichita State comes into play with a 26-26 overall record and a 9-9 mark in MVC play. The Shockers are coming off a weekend in which they took two of three against Evansville before defeating Kansas State in midweek action. The team is led offensively by Jenista Greyson (.324, 13 2B, 36 RBI) and Alec Bohm (.316, 10 HR, 38 RBI). As a club, the Shockers are hitting at a clip of .270 while the pitching staff holds a 4.79 ERA.

SERIES HISTORY
The Shockers lead the all-time series, 95-48. WSU has also won 37 of 58 games in Terre Haute.

FEAST OR FAMINE
It has been an up-and-down last month for the Sycamores as the team has been involved in four consecutive weekend sweeps. ISU dropped three-straight at Dallas Baptist before completing sweeps of Bradley and Illinois State. Last weekend, the team was swept at No. 13 Missouri State.

GOING DEEP
The Sycamores have seen their team total for home runs climb to 53 as we come down the stretch of the season. Since April 14 the Trees have 29 home runs. In those 19 games, the Sycamores have had multiple homers in nine games. Prior to then, the team had collected 24 homers in their first 29 games.

MOVING UP THE LIST
Senior closer Austin Conway moved into second place on the career save list, passing Phil Thatcher (1977-80) after earning his 11th save of the season during a win at Illinois State (May 7). He now sits at 18 for his career and eight behind Sycamore all-time saves leader Craig Kozlowski (1982-86). With his 11 saves, he sits at 24th nationally for saves this season.

STRONG ON ALL FRONTS
Senior Tony Rosselli has been one of the biggest contributors to the Sycamore offense this season. The senior is second on the squad with a .327 average on 53 hits, including 8 doubles, five triples and eight home runs. He has also shown his speed on the bases, with eight steals.

GOOD GLOVES
As a team, the Sycamores have a .979 fielding percent, which is tops in the Missouri Valley and 18th nationally. Ten Sycamores have a perfect fielding percentage while three more boast percentages above .970. In the MVC, the Sycamores have eight fewer miscues than the next best squad.

NO FREE PASSES
Sophomore Tyler Ward has put together a nice stat line so far this season. The right-hander has a 4-2 record with a 3.77 ERA in 11 starts. The Santa Claus, Indiana native has struck out 49 batters while walking just 11. He ranks 83rdnationally with a 4.45 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 36th nationally with 1.34 walks per nine innings.

STRIKE 'EM OUT
One thing the Sycamores have done well this season on the mound is record strikeouts. As a team, ISU has struck out 412 opposing batters, led by senior right-hander Jeremy McKinney who has 61 K's in 50.1 innings. The team ranks 24th in the country with 9.0 strikeouts per nine innings while McKinney has struck out 10.91 per nine innings, good enough for 44th nationally.

STRONG IN THE NINTH
Indiana State is outscoring the opposition 32-13 in the ninth inning this season and the Trees are a perfect 23-0 when leading after eight innings.
