Rylee Holland has been named to the First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2017 season, the Valley announced Monday.
Holland owns a 3.79 GPA and is currently in graduate coursework in criminology & criminal justice after graduating with her bachelor's in the same area of study last semester.
This season, Holland played in 52 and started in 50 of Indiana State's 53 games. She hit .284 with 23 RBI and a .346 on-base percentage, recording ISU's longest reached-base streak of the season at 12 games. She finished tied for second in the Valley and 11th in the NCAA in sac bunts (15), and her 23 RBI was third on ISU's roster. She also ranked as the 64th toughest strikeout in the NCAA this year.
She finished her career with 192 games played and 164 starts, recording a .280 career batting average and ending up ranked fifth all-time in runs scored (92), fifth in sac bunts (42) and fifth in career hit-by-pitch (19).
In order to be eligible, student-athletes must have at 3.2 GPA or higher, be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing and meet certain playing requirements.
