NORMAL, Ill. – Junior pitcher Kenzie Ihle and freshman second baseman Leslie Sims have both been named Second-Team All-MVC while senior Kassie Brown earned her second-straight selection to the MVC All-Defensive Team at tonight's awards banquet.
 
Ihle and Sims become the 20th and 21st Second-Team honorees in school history, the 38th and 39th overall All-Conference honor when factoring in ISU's 18 First-Team honors over the years. Brown's selection to All-Defensive is her second in as many years in just the third year of the distinction.
 
Ihle was ISU's top starting pitcher in the circle this season, going 17-14 overall. Her 17 wins are the fifth-most in a single-season in school history, and her 12 strikeout performance against Evansville on April 21 were the most by a Sycamore pitcher in five years since Lindsey Beisser struck out 12 vs. Sacred Heart on March 7, 2012.
 
Sims played in 52 of ISU's 53 games, starting 42 – primarily at second base. The freshman native of Hope, Ind., was Indiana State's top hitter for most of the season, batting over .400 for a large portion of the year – ending at a team-leading .368 average. Sims is one of the fastest baserunners in the Valley as well, swiping 20 stolen bases this season – second-most in the Valley.
 
Brown was known for her defensive prowess for her entire Sycamore career, but she was a steadily superb hitter at the plate as well. Brown ended her career ninth all-time with a .329 career batting average. Defensively, Brown was part of two separate Sycamore teams that broke the school record in double plays turned – including this past season when Indiana State turned 26 to break the 2015 record of 24.
