TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Indiana State women's golf is in third place after the opening round of the ISU Spring Invitational, which is the lone home tournament for the Sycamores this season. The event is being played at The Country Club of Terre Haute, which is a par-72, 6,041 yard layout on the southside of town.
Indiana State will have to come from nine shots down if they are to remain undefeated all-time in their home tournament -- hosting for the fourth consecutive year. The Sycamores carded a round of 315 and are tied with Missouri Valley Conference foe Drake for third place. William Woods is leading the event after firing an opening round of 306 while Western Illinois' mark of 310 is in second place. Butler's 316 puts them three shots behind the Sycamores while Evansville (318) and Loyola (320) are close behind. Northern Iowa's round of 320 ties them with Loyola for seventh place followed by Eastern Illinois at 328. The Indiana State "B" team carded a round of 331 for 10th place while Illinois-Springfield (336) and Dayton (338) round out the field.
Senior
Marissa Uradomo carded a round of 75 and is tied for fifth place.
Sophie Benetti battled the wind which kept most scores up to fire a round of 78 and she is tied for 11th place. Freshman
Sierra Hargens made her debut at the country club and tallied a round of 81 which is tied for 28th place.
Robyn Blanchard was tied with Hargens with a round of 81 while
Thilda Staubo's 84 puts her in a tie for 48th place.
On the "B" team,
Dawn Turner and
Kayla Ryan each set collegiate bests with rounds of 78 which have them tied for 11th place.
Alex Jennings carded a round of 87 and is tied for 57th while
Samantha Hightower's 88 puts her in a tie for 63rd place. Rounding the results was the play of Abigail irwin who carded a 93 and is in 71st place. Playing as an individual,
Shelby Williams notched a score of 80 which is tied for 22nd place.

'Uradomo will only have to overcome a two-stroke deficit on Monday as she trails Loyola's Elayne Bowser and William Woods' Lucy Matthews who each posted rounds of 73 to lead the event.
The final round is set for Monday, April 10 with a shotgun start at 9 am (ET).
