Thilda Staubo & Marissa Uradomo Record Top 10 Finishes At Cardinal Challenge

BEAUMONT, Texas -- Indiana State's Thilda Staubo & Marissa Uradomo each recorded individual Top 10 finishes as the Sycamores concluded their Spring Break trip to the Lonestar State with the final round of the Lamar Cardinal Challenge. The event was held on the par-72, 6,008-yard layout of the Beaumont Country Club.

The Sycamores posted a final round of 322 which followed rounds of 310 and 313 for a final team score of 945. That was ahead of Detroit and Prairie View A&M for seventh place. Cleveland State and UT-Rio Grande Valley each edge out the Sycamores for fifth place as they tied one stroke ahead in the standings at 944. Bradley (922) and Southern Illinois (924) finished 2-3 in the event while host Lamar finished with a team score of 897 for the victory.

"The courses we played this week were just what we needed," head coach Greg Towne said. "They put us in some uncomfortable situations especially with the southern grass. Our inexperience with tough pin locations showed. The team realizes the thought processes they need to develop and it should help us considerably for the rest of the season."

Staubo plsyed all three rounds of the event in the 70's as she finished with a score of 79 after rounds of 74 and 76 earlier. Her tournament tally of 229 was good enough for eighth place. Marissa Uradomo carded rounds of 71 and 79 earlier and finished with an 80 to give her a 230 for the weekend which finished in ninth. Sierra Hargens rebounded from an opening round of 87 to post a 78 on Sunday after a 76 in the second round for a final score of 241 which tied her for 27th place. Robyn Blanchard's final round of 85 gave her a score of 250 for the tournament which placed her 40th while Alex Jennings recorded a score of 92 on Sunday to finish with a 260 and a tie for 44th place. Playing as an individual, Dawn Turner's final round of 85 gave her a three-round score of 253 which finished in 41st place.

Indiana State returns to the links on April 1-2 at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill.
