BEAUMONT, Texas -- Indiana State golf put together another solid round on the second day of the Lamar Cardinal Challenge which is being held on the par-71, 6,008-yard layout of the Beaumont Country Club.

The Sycamores stand in fifth place after firing a second round score of 313 which followed Friday's effort of 310. Their two-day score of 623 is just eight shots behind Missouri Valley Conference foes Bradley and Southern Illinois for second place (both have a total of 615). Host Lamar, who advanced to the NCAA Regionals fired a second round score of 299 and their two-day tally of 592 leads the field. 

"We are fortunate to get the chance to practice a lot of bump and run shots," head coach Greg Towne said. "The course is a Donald Ross type design with a lot of steep slopes and its's a design we seldom see but will surely run into down the road. The team is getting it together and I can see it coming together. The field is bunched except for the host school which is playing the course brilliantly."

Marissa Uradomo and Thilda Staubo each remain in the Top 5 as their two day scores of 150 are tied for fifth place. Uradomo fired a 79 on day two following an opening round of 71 while Staubo carded a 76 one day after posting a round of 74. Sierra Hargens made the big move of the day as she posted 76 which is 11 shots better than her opening round score of her two-day mark of 163 is tied for 34th place. Robyn Blanchard improved on her first day score of 83 to tally an 82 on Saturday and her total of 165 is tied for 37th place. Alex Jennings carded a round of 86 and her tournament score of 168 is tied for 41st.

Playing as an individual, Dawn Turner posted an 83 and he score so far of 168 is also tied for 41st place.

The third and final round is scheduled for Sunday, March 19 and begins at 10:00 a.m. (ET).
