BEAUMONT, Texas -- The Indiana State women's golf team continues their Spring Break trip to the Lonestar State this weekend as they participate in the 2017 Cardinal Challenge, hosted by Lamar. The event will be held at the Beaumont Country Club on a par-71, 6,008-yard layout.
Indiana State is coming off an eighth place finish at the Bradley Spring Break Invitational which was held just outside of Dallas this past Monday and Tuesday.
Marissa Uradomo led the way with a tournament score of 230 which was good enough for 16th place after her final round of 78.
Thilda Staubo also had a solid outing as she had the Sycamores' best final round as she carded a score of 75 and finished in a tie for 19th place with a three round score of 232.
Indiana State recorded a final round of 312 which followed scores of 327 and 314 for a three-round tally of 953 which was eighth in the 10-team field. The Sycamores edged out MVC foe Drake who was ninth with a score of 955 and UT-Dallas who finished with a score of 1,031 and was 10th.
"We are off to Lamar for another crack at some Valley teams and a NCAA tourney team in Lamar this weekend!," coach Towne said.Â
The Cardinal Challenge will feature a 54-hole format over three days this weekend with one round each on Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 19.Â
The field consists of: host Lamar, Bradley, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Fairleigh Dickinson, Indiana State, Prairie View A&M, Southern Illinois and UTRGV.
The event begins at 9 a.m. (ET) on Friday and will continue with a 2 pm (ET) start on Saturday and the final round begins at 9 am (ET) on Sunday.
