DALLAS, Texas -- Indiana State's
Thilda Staubo and
Marissa Uradomo led the Sycamores to an eighth place finish at the Bradley Spring Break Invitational this week during the first of two tournaments for the team in the Lonestar State. This event was held at the Brookhaven Country Club, which is a par-71, 5,921-yard layout.
Staubo had the Sycamores' best final round as she carded a score of 75 and finished in a tie for 19th place with a three round score of 232.
Marissa Uradomo once again led the way for the Sycamores with a tournament score of 230 which was good enough for 16th place after her final round of 78.
Indiana State recorded a final round of 312 which followed scores of 327 and 314 for a three-round tally of 953 which was eighth in the 10-team field. The Sycamores edged out MVC foe Drake who was ninth with a score of 955 and UT-Dallas who finished with a score of 1,031 and was 10th.
"We have a solid schedule coming up and it's still early," head coach
Greg Towne said. "For a few on the team it was their first event of the season and all of them it was their second week playing on grass. I saw lots of good stuff and lots of opportunities for me to coach this group better."
Freshman
Sierra Hargens rebounded from rounds of 83 and 86 to tally a 77 in the third round which gave her a tournament score of 246 and tied for 40th place.
Robyn Blanchard carded a final round of 82 after rounds of 83 and 82 for a three-day score of 247 and was good enough for 42nd place.
Alex Jennings recorded her third consecutive round of 84 and her tally of 252 tied for 47th place. Playing as an individual,
Dawn Turner tied for 55th place with a three round score of 260 after recorded a final round of 93.
Northern Illinois' final round of 293 gave them the tournament victory with a tournament total of 890. Bradley was second (909) while Wichita State was third (912). Southern Illinois finished sixth (927) and Illinois State was seventh (928).
Indiana State returns to action this weekend beginning on Friday, March 17 when they compete in the Lamar Cardinal Challenge on three consecutive days in Beaumont, Texas.
"We are off to Lamar for another crack at some Valley teams and a NCAA tourney team in Lamar this weekend!," coach Towne said.
