ST. LOUIS – After helping the Sycamores start 4-1 on their Spring Break trip in Florida, sophomore catcher
Brooke Mann has been named both the Missouri Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week, the Valley announced Monday afternoon.
Mann had an extraordinary weekend of action, pacing the Sycamores with an absurd .833 batting average (10-for-12) and an unbelievable 1.417 slugging percentage in ISU's five games. Down in Florida, Mann has socked two home runs and one double while driving in 10 RBI as a starter in all five games. Both of her home runs were three-run shots and both were hit on Day One wins vs. LaSalle (12-4, 6 innings) and Yale (15-3, 6 innings). When her seven walks this weekend are factored in, her on-base percentage reads .895 in five games.
On the season, Mann is second on ISU's roster and fifth in the Valley with a .412 batting average. Mann also ranks highly in the Valley in slugging (2nd, .765), RBI (2nd, 24), home runs (T-2nd, 5), walks (T-3rd, 13) and on-base percentage (4th, .530).
