ST LOUIS – Indiana State's Will Kincanon has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday. It marks the first weekly honor for Kincanon in his career at Indiana State and the first MVC honor for the Sycamores this season.
 
Kincanon, a Riverside, Illinois native, is coming off an impressive showing against No. 12 Washington over the weekend where he led the Sycamores to a 5-3 win over the Huskies. The right-hander struck out a career best 11 batters in 8.2 innings, allowing only two earned runs.
 
In total, the Riverside, Illinois native threw first-pitch strikes to 26 of the 35 batters he faced while sitting down the Husky battery in order twice in the contest.
 
The Sycamores will open their home portion of the 2017 season Friday when the team hosts Oakland for a three-game series at Bob Warn Field.
