KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Keyed by a fantastic second round from senior
Marissa Uradomo the Sycamores shaved 11 strokes off their first round score on Monday at the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Classic.
Indiana State posted a second round score of 308 one day after carding a mark of 319 in showing a marked improvement on Monday. The Sycamores two-day score of 627 is tied with South Alabama for 29th place in the 43 team field.
Uradomo improved eight strokes in the second round with a two-under par score of 70 on Monday. She now has a tournament tally of 148 which is tied for 22nd place.
Sierra Hargens who enjoyed the Sycamores' lowest round score of 77 carded a round of 75 on Monday. Her two-day total of 152 is tied for 58th place.
Thilda Staubo followed up an opening day 80 with an 82 on Monday for a total of 162 which is tied for 165th place.
Sophie Benetti improved her opening round tally of 84 with a Monday score of 81 for a two-round score of 165 and a tie for 187th place.
Alex Jennings rounded out the scoring with an 85 which couples with her opening round of 84 for a total of 169 and a tie for 207th place.
Samantha Hightower posted her second consecutive round of 96 on Monday.
Coastal Carolina posted a round of 295 on Monday and their two-day score of 584 leads the field. MVC foe Loyola posted a 316 on Monday and their two-round score of 647 is 20 strokes behind the Sycamores and is tied for 39th place.Â
The Top 22 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point during the final round, while teams 23-43 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point on Tuesday. William and Mary leads the flight championship group with a score of 619 as the Sycamores will need to make up eight shots to take the tournament title.
