TERRE HUATE, Ind. – Indiana State will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio on Nov. 16-18 to compete in their mid-season meet, the Bearcat Invitational.
While the swimmers travel to the Bearcat Invite the Indiana State diving team will make a trip to West Lafayette, Ind. to compete in the Purdue Invitational.
The Sycamores enter this meet coming off a few notable wins as they defeated two Missouri Valley Conference opponents, Evansville and Little Rock along with another large margin win over Butler at the Evansville quad meet on Nov. 4.
Indiana State came out hot and ready to compete as they earned first place in the 400 medley relay made of up
Kendall Hansen,
Blanca Saez-Illobre,
Jacquie Price and Joelle Borchers.
This created a strong momentum which proved to carry them through the rest of the meet.
Numerous Sycamores rattled off first place finishes in multiple different events.
Hansen finished first yet again in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.69.
Martina Marks and Saez-Illobre added first place finishes in the 500 freestyle and 200 breaststroke.
The Sycamores finished off the meet on a high note as they recorded a new school record in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:35.02.
Indiana State diving has also recorded a strong performance at the meet.
2017-2018 is the first season that has included diving in program history for the Sycamores and is currently made up of senior Laura Fulton and sophomore Mckenzie Plummer.
Fulton finished fourth in the three meter dive scoring a 186.75 and then placed sixth on the one meter diving with 169.2.
Plummer added a sixth place finish on the three meter dive with 119.4 and added a seventh place finish in the three meter dive and 154.45.
Indiana State will now prepare for the MVC meet by competing against multiple opponents at the Bearcat Invite.
Last season the Sycamores placed fourth at the meet falling to University of Cincinnati and Carson Newman.
The preliminary events will begin each day at 10 a.m. and the finals will begin at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 17, but will begin at 5 p.m. on the final day of Nov. 18.
The diving team will compete on Nov. 16 and 17 with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
