ST. LOUIS -- Indiana State senior guard
Brenton Scott has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player Of The Week following his efforts in the 90-69 win over Indiana on Friday, November 10 inside Assembly Hall. This is the first weekly honor given out by the league office this season.
Scott led all scorers with 24 points as he hit 9-of-14 shots from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range to go with three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 28 minutes of action. His six 3-pointers tied a career-high and were a key part of the Sycamores' setting a new Assembly Hall record for most trifectas by a visiting team with 17. His first 3-pointer came at the 12:52 mark of the first half which pushed an early Sycamore advantage out to 25-11. His next one was four minutes later and stretched the lead out to 17. With three minutes to go before the half, Scott hit his final one of the first half to give Indiana State a 50-27 cushion.
Early in the second half, Scott connected on a jumper and then got a steal on the defensive end then scored in transition for a 61-35 lead. Those buckets pushed Scott into 12
thall-time at Indiana State in career scoring. Scott's final trifecta of the game came with 7:57 to go which gave Indiana State an unreal 83-55 lead.
Indiana State returns to action on Thursday, November 16 when they travel to the Gildan Charleston Classic and will take on Auburn at 11:30 a.m. (ET). The game will be televised live on ESPNU as well as the WatchESPN app.
