The Indiana State Basketball team will tackle one of its largest community service projects in the history of the program when they travel to Mackey Arena on Saturday, October 28 to face the Purdue Boilermakers in a charity exhibition contest set for 3 pm (ET).
The Sycamores are well known for donating their time to many different causes around the Wabash Valley and this charity game will go to hurricane relief efforts in both Houston and Puerto Rico. Earlier this fall, the Sycamores sent a package of clothes and shoes to Houston to assist in relief efforts.
"This is a great thing that the NCAA is allowing schools around the country to do," head coach
Greg Lansing said. "We are going to Purdue to participate in a fundraiser for hurricane relief and this is something that many schools around the country are doing and when Matt Painter called to offer this opportunity I could not say yes fast enough. Matt and I are good friends and with Sherard being a Purdue graduate this is a natural fit. It is exciting to head to Purdue for this game and partner with the Boilers to benefit a worthy cause ."
This charity exhibition contest will proceed the Purdue Football game that evening against Nebraska scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the game are $10 and will be general admission outside of the club and courtside seats. A limited allotment has been made available for sale at the Hulman Center Ticket Office beginning at Noon on Monday, October 23. All net proceeds from the exhibition will benefit the Greater Houston Community Foundation and the UNIDOS Disaster Relief & Recovery Program to support Puerto Rico.
NCAA regulations prohibit Division I programs from playing on the road for preseason exhibitions. However, the game was granted an exemption from the NCAA to be played on Purdue's campus as a charity event. The NCAA waiver will also allow the Sycamores to retain their home exhibition game, which is slated for Friday, Nov. 3 at Hulman Center against Marian at 7 p.m.

Sherard Clinkscales is a 1992 graduate of Purdue where he was completed his collegiate basketball and baseball career and went on to be a first round draft pick of the Kansas City Royals. Clinkscales and Painter were roommates at Purdue.
Fans attending without parking passes for the football game that evening can park in Purdue's IM lots ($20), campus parking garages ($10) or the surrounding neighborhoods. ADA parking is available in the O Lot for $20.
