TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer will welcome the Illinois State Redbirds to Memorial Stadium on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
This match will be the fourth Missouri Valley Conference matchup of the season for the Sycamores who are currently 0-3 in MVC play.
Indiana State is coming off yet another tough loss to the Drake Bulldogs.
The game was initially supposed to be played on Oct. 6, but due to severe weather and unplayable field conditions the match was postponed until the following day at a nearby high school.
ISU came out strong and aggressive against the Bulldogs firing multiple shots at the Drake net. Freshman
Danielle Varner led the way offensively tallying a total of four shots during play.
Senior Defender
Kasey Wallace had an especially notable performance as she put the defensive line on her back and battled to keep the Sycamores in the game.
Indiana State and Drake were evenly matched and this continued until the 72
nd minute of play. Drake then notched three goals in a span of 15 minutes.
Rebecca Rogers posted two with Hannah Wilder earning one of her own. Indiana State ultimately fell to Drake 3-0.
The Sycamores will now match up with the Redbirds of Illinois State on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
The last time the Sycamores matched up with Illinois State was in the 2016 MVC semifinal match where the Sycamores fell 1-0 off an overtime golden goal from the Redbirds.
Illinois State is being led by senior Kelli Zickert who currently holds eleven points coming from three goals and five assists on the year.
The Redbirds entered the 2017 season as the defending MVC champions after advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2016.
