TERRE HAUTE – Indiana State women's basketball continues its three-game road swing with Northern Iowa Friday night in Cedar Falls. The game is schedule to tip-off at 8 p.m. ET from the McLeod Center and will be streamed live world-wide on The Valley On ESPN3. Luke Martin will have the radio call on WIBQ AM 1230 in the Wabash Valley.
SERIES HISTORY
The Sycamores lead the all-time series with the Panthers, 42-28, in the series that dates back to 1977. The Sycamores have struggled as of late though against UNI, dropping its last four contests. Indiana State's last win came in 2014 when the Sycamores took the season series from the Panthers.
LOOKING AT NORTHERN IOWA
Northern Iowa comes into the game with a 13-4 overall record, and a 6-0 mark in MVC play. UNI is riding a nine-game winning streak and are led by Madison Weekly who is scoring 15.9 points per game while Ellie Herzberg adds 10.3 points a game for the Panthers. Forward Hannah Schonhardt paces UNI on the boards with 8.1 rebounds a contest. As a team, UNI is scoring 65.2 points a game while holding opponents to 60.3.
OFF AND RUNNING
Indiana State is off to its best start in Missouri Valley Conference play since the 2013-14 when the team started 6-0. The Sycamores have won four-straight games with wins over BU, ILS, LUC, and SIU.
PUTTING ON THE CLAMPS
The Sycamores currently rank first in the Missouri Valley Conference, holding opponents just 57.6 points per game this season. The Sycamores are also leading the conference field goal percent defense, allowing the opposition to shoot just 35.1 percent from the floor. Indiana State is 7-2 when holding opponents under 60 points.
SWAT TEAM
Indiana State as a whole has recorded 71 blocks as a team this year to lead the Missouri Valley. Their 4.4 blocks per game second-best in the MVC behind Illinois State. The Sycamores top paint protector is

Rhagen Smith has swatted away 14 shots. A total of 11 players have recorded blocks this year for the Sycamores.

Ashley Taia is leading the way in Valley play with a 17.2 points per game average while sophomore
Tierra Webb sits at 8.6 points a contest. Forward
Wendi Bibbins is also averaging 7.8 points and seven boards a game through four conference games. Taia has recorded two 20+ point scoring games in MVC play. In total, the forward has three this season. She has 12 games of double-digit scoring. Bibbins has scored in double-digits in six games in a Sycamore uniform.
