ST. LOUIS - Indiana State junior
Wendi Bibbins has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday. Evansville's Camary Williams averaged 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game in two Aces wins last week, earning her first career MVC Player of the Week honor.
Bibbins finished the week nearly averaging a double-double, scoring 13.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and an assists a game to help Indiana State to a 2-1 record with wins over Miami (OH) and Eastern Illinois.
A Harvey, Louisiana native, Bibbins matched a career high 16 points versus the Redhawks as she helped propel ISU to a comeback win after trailing Miami by 17 points in the second quarter. She finished 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line to go along with seven rebounds. Against EIU, she hit six of her seven shots scored 16 points while grabbing nine boards.
This marks the first MVC weekly award for a Sycamore women's basketball player this season.
