Women's Hoops Looks to Pick up Road Win Saturday at Miami (OH)

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State women's basketball returns to the road for three games beginning Saturday when the team travel to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami (OH) at 2 p.m. ET. The game can be seen live on ESPN3. Luke Martin will also have the call on WIBQ 1230 AM in the Wabash Valley.

LAST TIME OUT
In a defensive battle for much of the night, IUPUI used a 15-5 third quarter to rally past Indiana State, 45-35, Wednesday night at the Hulman Center.

Junior forward Wendi Bibbins led the way for the Sycamores (3-4) with eight points, seven rebounds and an assist. Ashley Taia added eight points including a pair of 3-pointers while redshirt freshman McKenzy Telfair scored six for ISU.

Indiana State had no problem getting to the free throw line on the night, attempting 15, but connected on just four in the game for a season low 26.7 percent. Those missed opportunities would come up big as ISU cut the Jaguar lead to just eight points with just over six minutes remaining to play.

Neither team's offense showed much life in the first half as ISU shot just 6-of-26 while the Jags shot 7-of-22. IUPUI's Mikale Rogers led the Jags to a 17-16 halftime lead after scoring six of the teams' first-half points. She would finish the contest with a game-high 15 points and six blocks.

SERIES HISTORY
Indiana State and the Redhawks have met just six times with both teams winning three. The last meeting came in 2004-05 when the Miami (Ohio) defeated ISU in Oxford, 62-59, to start of the season. After the Sycamores took the first three meetings, the Redhawks have taken the last three.

STRONG START
The Sycamores jumped out to s strong start at Eastern Illinois, leading 29-19 after the first quarter. ISU used a flurry of 3-pointers on their way to draining a season-best 11 on the night. As a team, the Sycamores shot 60.3 percent (35-of-58) from the field in route to an 88-61 victory over the Panthers.

 DOUBLE TROUBLE
Six games into the 2016-17 season, junior Wendi Bibbins is putting up the most consistent numbers on the team, averaging nearly a double-double with 9.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Against EIU, Bibbins fell just one rebound shy of her third double-double of the season after recording 16 points and nine rebounds.

BENCH WORK
The Indiana State bench came to play over the last week, especially Monday night when they put up 26 points against the Panthers of Eastern Illinois in an 88-61 win on the road.
