Mike Simmonds, a 1987 graduate of Indiana State University, was a member of the Sycamore football team from 1983-1986. He started 46 games at offensive tackle for the Sycamores, earning 1-AA All-American honors in 1986. Simmonds was on the All-Missouri Valley Conference team in 1985 and was named to the all-Gateway Conference team in 1986. Simmonds was also named to the All-Decade Gateway Conference team (1980s) and the Gateway Conference 20th Anniversary Team.

He was drafted in the 10th round of the 1987 NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting at offensive guard in 1989, once earning NFL Offensive Lineman of the Week in a game against Chicago.

Simmonds coached Jefferson High School from 1998-2005, compiling a 75-29 record and two state championship game appearances. He was named the Tampa Bay Buccaneers High School Coach of the Year in 2002 and is currently on the staff at the University of South Florida. Simmonds played his high school football at Belleville (IL) where his team reached the 1-AA playoffs in 1983 and 1984.

Simmonds and his wife, Jacqueline (Whiting) have three daughters, Amanda (16), Lauren (12) and Emily (8).
