EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Indiana State diving team took on Evansville on Thursday night as the five Sycamore divers battled against the Purple Aces in their first action of the spring 2024 season.
Zoe Smith was the top diver for ISU in both the 1M and 3M events on the afternoon, while
Bailey Betzer and
Daniela Orta Castaneda also posted top results on the day to highlight the Sycamores in the pool.
Smith took second overall in the 1M Diving event as the senior totaled a 250.65 over the six dives. Betzer was third in the field with a 245.63, while Orta Castaneda finished fourth in 207.23.
Sierra Bowman was also in the top five with a 197.48, while
Brenna Woodruff rounded out the group in sixth with 162.83.
The Sycamores took the top three spots in the 3M diving event with Smith totaling a 257.55 to claim the individual title. She topped teammate Betzer (255.53) by 2.02 points to take the win, while Orta Castaneda was third in 240.90. Bowman finished fifth in 198.83, while Woodruff totaled 164.40 in sixth.

The Sycamores continue the spring season on Saturday afternoon at a tri-meet hosted by Southern Illinois as ISU takes on both the Salukis and Quincy at the Dr. Edward J. Shea Natatorium. Events are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
