GREENWOOD, Ind. – Indiana State senior outside hitter Karinna Gall was named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced Tuesday by the organization.
 
Gall, a Belleville, Illinois, native, carries a 3.88 GPA as a special education and middle school math teaching major. She was an Honorable Mention MVC Scholar-Athlete Team selection in both 2022 and 2023. Gall tallied 791 kills (2.16 per set) and 808 digs (2.21 per set) in her career, finishing on the team with 201 kills (2.39 per set), third with 206 digs (2.45 per set) this season.
 
Gall tallied 20 double-doubles in her career, and recorded 10 or more digs on 10 occasions this season with a career-best 24 digs in the season finale against Evansville. She had at least nine kills in each of the last seven matches and recorded double-digit kills in seven matches this season, while her season-high of 18 kills came in the Sycamores' opening weekend win over Alabama State (Aug. 26).  She also added 23 blocks (three solo, 20 assist) and 11 service aces this season. Gall had at least one block in 14 of the last 17 matches, including a season-high four against Evansville (Oct. 9). She served up multiple aces in four different matches, including wins over Alabama State (Aug. 26), UL-Monroe (Sept. 1) and Belmont (Nov. 11).
  
Academic All-District honorees are nominated by their institution's athletic communications staff who are dues-paying members of CSC. Nominees must be a sophomore both academically and athletically and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Volleyball nominees must have either played in at least 90 percent of their team's sets or started in at least two-thirds of their team's matches.
 
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which Gall has been included on. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early January.
