The Hillman Award is Indiana State University's oldest athletic award, first given in 1923 for a student-athlete who had 'good health, posture, technical skills and sportsmanship.' The prestigious award is presented annually to the best all-around Sycamore male and female student-athlete at the Spring Sports Banquet.
The 2013 recipients of this prestigious award are track & field's Felisha Johnson and baseball's Robby Ort.
Johnson has had a stellar Sycamore career and is two-time national champion in the weight throw, and currently holds the school record in the weight throw, shot put and hammer. She is a five time All-American and an All-Missouri Valley Conference performer in the weight throw, shot put and discus.
Ort, a four-year baseball letterwinner, has earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors three times. He is the first player in Indiana State baseball history to lead the Sycamores in runs batted in for three straight seasons and became the school's career RBI leader on Senior Day vs. Bradley, capping a five-RBI afternoon on a record-setting three-run home run. He is the only player in school history to rank in the top five in both career RBI's and hits.
Each year, Terre Haute Savings Bank is a proud sponsor of the Indiana State Athletics Spring Sports Banquet and of the Hillman Award.
