TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – After Indiana University announced today that the scheduled Billy Hayes Invitational would not take place on Friday due to immense rain in the area, Indiana State track & field has announced that it will host the Indiana State Twilight in its stead on Saturday afternoon.
Entries will remain open until around noon on Friday, so a finalized team list and heat sheets are not available at this time.
The Sycamores are coming off a weekend of stellar performances at the historic Drake Relays.
Senior All-American
David Timlin repeated as the men's 1500-meter champion with a season-best time of 3:51.59. In Timlin's two Drake Relays wins in the 1500 these last two years his margin of victory has been by less than one second each time.
Junior
Taylor Austin, the defending MVC Outdoor champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, put on a record-setting performance, running a time of 10:13.42. Her time broke her previous school record of 10:17.70, and now ranks 25th in the NCAA, 11th in the East and best in the Valley. For her efforts, she was named the MVC Female Track Athlete of the Week.
The Sycamore women's 4x1600-meter relay team made up of
Abigail Grider,
Taylor Austin,
Taylor Rogers, and
Brooke Moore set a new school record with a third-place time of 19:29.17. Moore took over on the anchor and ran an incredible split of 4:38.76.
Marcus Neely also had an impressive performance in the 110-meter hurdles at Drake with a season-best time of 13.77 and a third place finish in a stacked field of competition. His time is now 20th in the NCAA, 10th in the East and first in the Valley.
Competition will begin at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday with a rolling schedule.
