TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Sycamore men's and women's distance runners had a huge night at the Distance Carnival at the 108th running of the Drake Relays on Thursday, breaking a school record in the process.

The Sycamore women's 4x1600-meter relay of
Abigail Grider,
Taylor Austin,
Taylor Rogers and
Brooke Moore shattered the previous record of 19:57.60 (set just last season at Relays) with a third-place finish at 19:29.17 in a loaded field of competition. ISU only finished behind Oklahoma State (19:07.13) and Wisconsin (19:10.15).

Heading into the last leg of the relay, the women were in eighth place. Moore then took over on the anchor and ran an incredible split of 4:38.76 to push ISU into third place. Moore holds the ISU indoor mile record at 4:43.04.

Shortly after the relay team's phenomenal performance, sophomore
Megan Doty set a new personal best in the women's 10,000-meter run with a time of 35:58.84 and a 10th place finish. Her time improves upon her rank in third all-time at Indiana State, as she previously ranked third at 36:08.58 from last season.

Doty's teammates,
Colleen Madden and
Alli Workman, finished behind her with solid first performances in the event. Madden finished with a time of 36:24.69 and Workman finished at 37:36.36.

Sophomore distance runner
Akis Medrano concluded a strong first day for the Sycamores with an impressive performance in the men's 10,000-meter run. His time of 29:50.99 was good for fifth overall and is a new career-best, pushing him all the way up to fourth all-time after not ranking in the top-10 entering today.

Competition will resume tomorrow at 10:32 a.m. ET with the women's 100-meter hurdles prelim.
